Volunteer Coordinator

Status: Full-Time, Non-Exempt (40 hours/week)
Reports to: Executive Director
Location: Iron Gate

Iron Gate feeds the hungry and homeless of Tulsa every day with dignity and respect. Volunteers are the heart of Iron Gate. We’re looking for someone who can lead them with care, clarity, and confidence

We are hiring a Volunteer Coordinator to oversee all aspects of our volunteer program. This role is responsible for recruiting, training, and scheduling volunteers for our daily meal service, grocery pantry, and outreach efforts. The Volunteer Coordinator ensures guests are warmly served and volunteers are deeply valued. If you are organized, compassionate, and mission-driven, we would love to meet you.

What You Will Do

  • Recruit, train, and schedule volunteers for meal service, grocery distribution, pantry prep, snack packs, and special projects

  • Supervise and support volunteers during on-site shifts

  • Maintain accurate records of volunteer hours, interests, and activity

  • Respond to inquiries and coordinate volunteer onboarding

  • Keep training materials and the volunteer manual updated

  • Communicate regularly with volunteers using tools like Canva and Constant Contact

  • Plan and lead the annual Volunteer Appreciation Event

  • Oversee daily meals, grocery pantry, and kids packs

  • Prepare volunteer data for grant reporting

  • Share feedback and ideas with the leadership team

  • Pitch in wherever help is needed

  • Seek out and attend volunteer fairs and community resource events

  • Assist the development team with events

  • Foster an environment that encourages belonging and inclusiveness

Who You Are

  • You have a bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience

  • You are a clear, friendly communicator who enjoys working with people from all backgrounds

  • You stay organized in busy environments

  • You are comfortable using tools like Microsoft Office, Canva, and Constant Contact

  • You are a self-starter who takes initiative and follows through

  • You have a heart for service and a belief in our mission

  • You have a valid Oklahoma driver’s license
