Remember John Pippin?

The photo at left is how he looked when he was featured in our "Faces of Iron Gate" book in 2012.

The photo at right is how John looks today.

We talked to him about the transformation.

"What made the change?" we asked.

"You," he answered.  "Knowing that someone out there cares about me."

Iron Gate Grocery Pantry

Iron Gate Grocery Pantry

It’s like the joke about the rooster doing the crowing, while the hen quietly lays the eggs.

Our daily soup kitchen gets all the flash and glory, while our thrice-weekly grocery pantry quietly chugs along feeding thousands of families and children.

Feeding kids is a priority at Iron Gate because we know in Oklahoma, one in four goes to bed hungry. That’s why our grocery pantry is so important. Parents can get emergency groceries to cook meals at home.

"So many of the people are so incredibly grateful for what they receive and it just brings a lot of joy to me and I walk away from Iron Gate feeling like maybe I made just a little bit of difference in somebody's day." - Cindy Cook, Iron Gate volunteer

Thank you to Cindy and all of our volunteers. You DO make a difference in the lives of the guests each and every day.

It's Hard to Solve Problems When You're Hungry

It's Hard to Solve Problems When You're Hungry

When you wake up wondering if you will have something to eat today, it's hard to solve other problems: shelter, illness, unemployment, utilities, transportation and childcare. If you are a child who goes to bed hungry, it's hard to study and learn.

If you are lucky because you don't go to bed hungry or wake up wondering where your next meal is coming from, please help Iron Gate feed the hungry and homeless of Tulsa.

Meet Ethan, age 8. He and his mom eat at Iron Gate.Thank you for helping us feed kids at Iron Gate.

There's still time! You have until December 31 at 11:59 p.m. to make an online year end donation.
