- Fresh Produce, New Guest Selection in Our Grocery Pantry
- April 25, 2013
-
Pantry Manager Laura Robertson's dream was to offer more fresh produce and--another great dream--let the guest choose the foods they want. "Self select" is the most advanced trend nationally in grocery pantries. Over the last few months we eased into a self-select pantry and this week we went full throttle.
The new system requires additional volunteers for the food stations. To volunteer for pantry duty, contact Deacon Deborah 918.359.9007 or volunteer@irongatetulsa.org

Spring is here and the garden has received a face lift. Volunteers helped weed, till and plant flowers, creating a place where guests can enjoy their meal and visit with friends.
Have a green thumb? Garden volunteers are needed to help maintain the gardens. And, we could always use more flowers (petunias and marigolds). Contact us if you would like to be a garden volunteer or make a donation of flowers.- Read More

Love Letter from Tesla
The Telsa Quartet from New York City played classical music for us, organized by the Chamber Music Tulsa. The music brought tears to one guest and the crowd cheered "One More! One More!" for an encore performance.
Mayor Dewey Bartlett, Pam Rosser with Daughters of the King, and Pat Stunkard and Jeff Keeley with the Hyatt Regency Tulsa were our special guests and handed out Valentine bags and donated hygiene items and blankets from the hotel.
On Soul Food Day and Valentine's Day, more than 1200 plates were served each day.
