Volunteer

Volunteers are the heart of Iron Gate. Our gate is open every day. With the help of our volunteers, we feed guests through our soup kitchen, grocery pantry, and Kid’s Pantry. Organize a group of volunteers from your church, school, work, or volunteer as an individual. All volunteers must complete the form below.

Current Volunteer Opportunities

  • Community Meal

    • Seven days a week, 8:15 - 10:30 a.m.

    • 6-8 people per shift

  • Grocery Pantry

    • Serving Pantry, Monday/Wednesday/Friday, 12:30-3:00 pm

      • This is a shift that occurs outside (rain or shine) and requires lifting and walking.

    • Preparing for Grocery Pantry, Monday - Saturday, 9:30-11:30 am

    • 1-15 people per shift.

  • Agency Pantry Prep

    • Thursday’s 12:30-2:00 pm

    • 5 people per shift

    • Help prepare groceries for caseworker and Doordash pickup.

To continue our mission of feeding the hungry of Tulsa every day, Iron Gate volunteers are strongly encouraged to be vaccinated for COVID-19. We are making this requirement to ensure the health and safety of our volunteers and staff so that we can continue to serve our vulnerable guest population without interruption. This policy is valid beginning May 9, 2022.

Best Practices for Volunteers

Please tie back shoulder-length hair or longer, and refrain from open-toed shoes, sleeveless shirts, and shorts. If you're feeling sick, please stay home and let us know!

In accordance with Health Department rules, there can be no eating or drinking behind the food service line.

We are located at 501 W. Archer St, to the west of the Day Center for the Homeless. Enter through the west gate off of Archer, park at the back of the building, and ring the bell at the glass door for entry.  Aprons and gloves are provided.
